This course provides the skills and knowledge to manage, design, implement and evaluate lifestyle and leisure options for individuals and groups in the aged, disabled, mental health, community and youth sectors. Students gain experience to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team or as a consultant to manage and/or mentor others.

Students will also be trained to develop and implement effective communication techniques and to respond holistically to client issues. They will work effectively with culturally diverse clients, have opportunities to plan and conduct group activities and to implement and monitor OHS policies. Students will also receive training to develop leisure and health programs for clients with special needs.

The electives chosen will prepare them to work in the Aged care industry or in Youth related work. An international student without any background and previous training in the sector would have to spend a total of 2 years to complete a packaged program starting with Cert IV in Aged Care, followed by a Diploma of Community Services (Lifestyle and Leisure).
